Quick review — Marcus's price snippet

Hi you.

Marcus asked an AI to "show the product price" and pasted what it gave him into a PR. It shows a number on his screen, so he figures it's fine.

You just spent this week on exactly this. Give it a real review: is it ready to ship, does it need changes, or is it the wrong approach? If it's not a clean accept, tell me precisely what's wrong.

How this works

You spent this week learning to render prices the right way. Now flip it: most price code you'll review was written by an AI, and your job is to judge it, not retype it.

Two things AI gets wrong on Shopify prices almost every time:

It prints the price raw. {{ product.price }} is cents: 1899, not $18.99. It must go through {{ product.price | money }}.
It hardcodes a $. The money filter already outputs the right symbol for the store's currency, so a hardcoded $ breaks every euro or pound store.

Why this matters in production

Most price code you'll ever see was drafted by an AI or a teammate in a hurry. Raw cents (1899 instead of $18.99) is the single most common Shopify bug AI ships, and it reaches production constantly because 'it renders' looks like 'it works'. Catching it in review is the job.
